Junior Lifeguard classes are being offered for students ages 11-13 years during the winter holiday break.

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Division announced the upcoming scheduled which runs Monday through Friday, Dec. 26, 2016 through Jan. 6, 2017, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The two-week program will be offered at two locations and will include training in lifesaving water skills, First Aid, and CPR techniques, while improving health and fitness. There is no cost to participate.

Participants must register in person with a parent or guardian, and must be able to complete a 100-yard swim non-stop within three minutes.  Registration times and locations include the following:

  • Upcountry Pool (Pukalani): Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Ph. (808) 572-1479.
  • Shiraishi Pool (Kahului) session registration: Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Ph. (808) 270-7410.

This program is offered by the Maui County Aquatics Division on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit the department website.
