A notice has been issued for the opening of applications for the affordable rental housing lottery at the County of Maui’s Kulamalu Hale.

The 56 unit affordable family rental housing complex is located at 65 ʻŌhiʻa Ku Street in Pukalani, Maui, and consists of 16 one-bedroom/one bath units and 39 two-bedroom/one bath units (and one manager’s unit).

Applications will be available for pick up starting 8 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 and ending at 4 p.m. on Friday April 21, 2017.

Applications are available at: Hale Mahaolu Central Office, 200 Hina Avenue, Kahului, Hawaii 96732, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 through Friday April 21, 2017. Hale Mahaolu is the Managing Agent for Kulamalu Hale.

ONLY ORIGINAL APPLICATIONS COMPLETED AND RECEIVED AT THE HALE MAHAOLU CENTRAL OFFICE NO LATER THAN 4 P.M. ON FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2017 WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE LOTTERY SELECTION TO DETERMINE QUALIFICATION FOR THE INITIAL OCCUPANCY AND WAIT LIST. FAXES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Qualifying housing applications received after 4 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 will be added to the initial wait list in the order in which they were received.

The head of the household or spouse/adult co-head must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

Applicants must meet the income guidelines established by the County of Maui’s Affordable Housing Fund Program and the HOME Program. For more information, call (808) 872-4108

Hale Mahaolu, a private non-profit corporation organized in 1967, has experiences as sponsor, developer, owner, and manager of 14 properties (over 1000 units) in Maui County (including the islands of Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi) for the past 50 years. The corporation’s purpose is to develop and manage safe, sanitary, decent housing as well as provide supportive services for very low to moderate income elderly and families throughout Maui County.

The objective is to provide rental housing, related facilities, and supportive services specially designed to meet the physical, social, and psychological needs of residents and to contribute to their health, security, happiness, and usefulness in longer living.
