Pacific Media Group will hold its 18th Annual Job Fair on Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center in Kahului.

Fifty businesses will be in attendance including the new Ultimate Air Trampoline Park soon to open, and Maui’s medical marijuana dispensary, Maui Grown Therapies. Other employers at this years event include hotels, supermarkets, retail and financial institutions, as well as a variety of other island businesses.

“What’s nice for the job seeker is that we have all of these Maui businesses in one place so it’s easy for them to search for something that fits,” said Charly Espina Takahama, Employer’s Hotline and Job Fair coordinator at Pacific Media Group. “The timing is perfect because there are new graduates looking to embark on a career, and those just looking for summer jobs.”

This is the 18th year that PMG has been hosting Job Fairs.

The event comes as the Maui County’s unemployment rate fell to 2.9% in March. On Maui Island, the rate was 2.8%, down from the month before; on Molokaʻi unemployment was 5.6%, up from the 4.1% reported in February; and on Lānaʻi, the rate was 3.6%, down from the previous month. That according to new information released by the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

According to the Department report, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the state was 2.7% in March, down from the month before.
