Ringing in Restaurant Week Wailea at Gannon’s
There is no doubt.
Beverly Gannon LOVES steak!!
Calling it “phenomenal,” “unbelievable” and “my favorite,” the owner/chef of Gannon’s in Wailea is offering the Kobe flat-iron steak as an option on the $59 prix-fixe menu during Restaurant Week Wailea, from Sunday, May 21 to Saturday, May 27, 2017.
A total of 21 restaurants will take part in the dining promotion, offering chef-inspired prix-fixe menus for $29, $39, $49 or $59 per person, depending on the restaurant (beverages, tax and gratuity not included). To complement these special menus, some restaurants will create wine pairings at special prices to savor with your meal.
Along with the steak, Gannon’s is offering choices like Mālama Farms pork and sesame-crusted Ahi, along with appetizer options that include seared scallop, Ahi poke and raspberry salad. Gannon can now proudly share that many of her vegetables are sourced from Oprah Winfrey’s organic farm in Kula. For instance: “beautiful heirloom carrots, beets, the broccolini, yacon, which is this wonderful starchy root that we turn into all different kinds of vegetable sautées.”
Gannon’s has taken part in Restaurant Week Wailea since it began in 2009. For every prix-fixe meal purchased during the promotion, $2 will be donated to Maui Food Bank, as part of the Wailea Resort Association’s community giving.
“This bi-annual has raised over $80,000 dollars for the Maui Food Bank and we look forward to helping again this year in May and November,” says association general manager Bud Pikrone.
The donation portion of all this is important to Gannon. She says her businesses, which also include Hali‘imaile General Store and Celebrations Catering, have always been heavily community-minded.
“I’ve been really fortunate, I’ve worked really hard, and my hard work has afforded me the ability to give back to the community,” she explains. “I drive down my driveway every morning and look out over the used-to-be-pineapple-fields to the ocean, and I go, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I live here,’ and that’s 37 years later! The community has accepted me and what I do, my businesses, my restaurants, so you have to give back.”
