The workshop will educate the local food and beverage industry about aspects of today’s modern flavoring business and how to best formulate, and incorporate flavorings into a wide variety of Hawaiian made foods and beverages.

The workshop will be taught by Mike Abrams and Teresa Carden of Flavor Waves Inc., who will bring over half a century of flavorings and extract expertise to Maui’s local food producers.

Abrams started Flavor Waves in 1996 to help specialty beverage and food producers formulate peak flavor taste to ensure brand success. Carden, a senior Flavor Chemist with Abrams’ partner firm Frutarom Inc., has over 20 years of experience creating custom liquid and dry powder flavorings.

The duo have also worked-out an exciting way to source Hawaiian grown agriculture for extracting into Natural flavorings, which can be tasted by attendees at the event.

Abrams and Carden will also advise local food and beverage producers on how to conduct general sensory testing for their products as well as go over general ways to properly list flavorings on food packaging.

More topics about flavors will be explained to the audience so attendees can leave with complete knowledge and confidence of how to make their products better tasting for their customers.
