Conservation Training Offered to Tourism Professionals

Maui Mauka Conservation Awareness Training aims to connect conservation professionals with tourism professionals to increase the quality of nature interpretation and the level of awareness of Hawaiʻi’s unique natural resources. The training takes place on July 18, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the Kealia Pond Visitor Center in Kihei.

These trainings focus on watersheds, native plants and animals and invasive species. Presentations are simple, educational, fact-based and are taught by members of conservation organizations. Presenters are from East Maui Watershed Partnership, Maui Invasive Species Committee, Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project and Project S.E.A.-Link.

Each training provides:

• Facts and stories about Maui’s unique natural environment
• A guest speaker who is an expert in their field.
• Take home sheets and guides to effectively communicate the wonders of Maui
• An opportunity to learn the most current information from professionals in their field
