On Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at about 10:30 a.m. a 23-year-old female was found laying next to her vehicle parked on the shoulder of Mākena Road near Mākena Beach. Maui police tell Maui Now that the female appeared to have a self-inflicted injury and was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center emergency room in critical condition. Police do not suspect foul play and are still investigating.
