Early this week we have a special treat! The yearly Lyrid Meteor Shower is upon us. The shower is actually already active, having started on April 16th but the peak nights are April 22nd and 23rd. Unfortunately, the moon will be full enough and out all night and that will wash out much of the sky. Viewing conditions wonʻt be ideal for that reason but you should still be able to enjoy part of the show. Best viewing times will be from midnight until dawn. Both mornings dawn is around 5:45 am. The shower is active until April 25th and can produce up to 20 meteors per hour. The Lyrids are generated from the debris of Comet C/1861 G Thatcher.
