Outstanding Maui Filipino Community Leaders Named

The Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce announced four recipients of the Gintong Pamana Leadership Award.

The four awardees are:

  • Melen Agcolicol, owner and operator of Copy Services
  • Dionicia Cabias, staff supervisor at Hale Makua Health Services
  • Greg “Jay” Peros, general manager of the Maui Beach Hotel
  • Tante Urban, owner and president of Tante’s Island Cuisine

The awardees will be honored during the Gintong Pamana Leadership and Scholarship Awards banquet held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. at the Maui Beach Hotel. Event tickets are available at $65 each.

“We are grateful to have this opportunity to honor our outstanding community leaders of Filipino ancestry and express our gratitude to each of them.” said Dulce Butay, event chair and board member of the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce. “These names will now be added to the slate of awardees that have made great contributions to our community over the years.”

Past honorees have included first Filipino-American elected in public office Richard Caldito (2006), Senator Gilbert Keith-Agaran (1995), and former Maui County Councilmember Don Guzman (2012).

The Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation is also very pleased to announce the record breaking number of scholarship recipients for 2019. We are honored to provide 19 scholarships to outstanding and hard-working graduates from various high school throughout Maui.
