Maui gas prices in Kahului and Wailuku averaged $3.83 a gallon. That’s unchanged since last Thursday, the same price as last month, and 25 cents lower than last year.

Hawaiʻi gas prices moved very little over the past week as a record number of travelers prepare to drive, fly and ride to Independence Day holiday getaways, according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch.

Today’s statewide average price is $3.64 a gallon, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, unchanged from a month ago and ten cents lower than a year ago, according to AAA.

“Oʻahu and Maui are among this year’s top ten destinations for Independence Day travelers, so that may boost local gasoline demand in the next week or so,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager.
