Maui County officials continue to prepare for possible heavy weather impacts from tropical cyclones Erick and Flossie and are reminding residents and visitors to prepare their households.

Tropical Cyclone Erick is about 290 miles SSE of Hawaiʻi County and forecasters expect the system to pass south of the state. Tropical Cyclone Flossie continues its track toward Hawaiʻi and is about 1575 miles ESE of Hilo.

While Erick has weakened since yesterday, heavy rain and flash flooding remains a possibility for Maui County starting tonight and into Friday night, according to county officials. Strong gusty winds and high surf may also potentially affect the county and rest of the state.
