Pacific Whale Foundation Puts Out a Call for Filmmakers

The Pacific Whale Foundation is encouraging filmmakers to submit entries for its 4th annual World Whale Film Festival. 

The festival will be held on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. at the ʻĪao Theatre in Wailuku. The deadline for submitting film entries is Nov. 15 by 5 p.m. Hawaiʻi standard time.  

Filmmakers of all backgrounds and skill levels may submit 3 to 15-minute-long short films or full-length documentary trailers to introduce their story. 

This yearʻs festival theme is “Heroic Acts of Environmental Stewardship.”

The PWF is looking for powerful storytelling about the ocean environment that accurately represents cultures, ecosystems, and wildlife. 

Additional films will be considered for the PWFʻs RETHINK campaign, an effort to encourage viewers to consider alternatives to single-use plastics. 

Entries will be considered for originality, technical excellence, message, overall impact, and artistic merit.
