Maui Mayor Michael Victorino announced that he will host a celebration on Friday to honor Maui’s youth baseball teams that have gone on to regional and national championships.

“I welcome everyone to come out to celebrate with these players,” Mayor Victorino said. “We’re honoring all these teams, players and coaches who’ve taken Maui to the next level in national competition.”

The free festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, in front of the Kalana O Maui Building in Wailuku. Mayor Victorino will welcome all the teams, coaches, families, friends and supporters on the front lawn. He will present certificates to the players and coaches. Hot dogs, light refreshments and shave ice will be provided.

Immediately following the gathering (around 5:30 p.m.), the group will join in a parade from the County Building, toward Waiheʻe on South High Street and then march makai on Main Street. The group will turn onto Market Street and proceed to the main stage area for Wailuku First Friday.
