High Surf Advisory for Maui and Moloka‘i

A high surf advisory is in effect for the north and west facing shores of Molokaʻi and the north facing shores of Maui until 6 a.m. on Saturday.  

The National Weather Service says surf is expected to be in the 10 to 15 foot range along the north facing shores of Maui, Molokaʻi and Oʻahu today, resulting in rip currents and localized beach erosion. Molokaʻi is expected to see surf in the 8 to 12 foot range for their west facing shores.

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.

Beach goers are advised to expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong long-shore rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous.

As a precaution, beach goers, swimmers and surfers are asked to heed all advice given by Ocean Safety personnel and exercise caution.
