No Tsunami Threat to Hawaii After Large Philippines Quake

There’s no tsunami threat to Hawaii following a large earthquake in the Philippines reported at around 3:11 p.m. HST on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports that the preliminary magnitude 6.8 quake occurred in the Mindanao region.

The agency said, “Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wise tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
