13 Arrested in Prostitution Sting

Over a two-and-a-half-day operation this week, Maui police arrested thirteen men suspected of soliciting prostitution.

Between Monday and Wednesday, the Maui Police Departmentʻs Vice Gambling and Morals Unit stationed an undercover female officer at one of the islandʻs hotels to target suspected “Johns.”

During the procedure, known as a reverse prostitution operation, officers also recovered over $2,600.

While MPD did not disclose the exact hotel where these arrests were made, the department is asking all hotel and resort employees to report suspicious activity on their properties.

“Working together we can help put an end to this kind of criminal activity on Maui shores,” a press release from the MPD read.

“Victims of Prostitution rings often times have been forced into this modern-day slavery through psychological or physical coercion. Sometimes the threat of serious physical harm or even the use of restraints are employed against young and impressionable people.”

The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 defines sex trafficking as, “a modern-day form of slavery in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act is under the age of 18 years.”

• Myron Daniels – Prostitution/$100 bail
• Bradley S. Forrer – Prostitution/$100 bail
• Ryan Gaoiran – Prostitution/$100 bail
• David Leroy Flood – Prostitution/$100 bail
• Bendel Caesar Sambrano Garcia – Prostitution/$100 bail
• Robert Schmaltz – Prostitution/$100 bail
• Samuel Cachola – Prostitution/$100 bail
• Antone Estrella – Prostitution/$100 bail
• Stacy Otomo – Prostitution/$100 bail
