After a week on hold, the lululemon Maui Pro will run the first three rounds of competition on Sunday.

The lululemon Maui Pro, the final stop on the World Surf League Women’s Championship Tour, will be off for the day on Saturday, but will commence on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 7:35 a.m. HST. The live broadcast will start at 7 a.m. HST.

Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL VP of Tours and Competition said, “We are going to be off for today as we still have very small conditions; however, tomorrow looks very good… We are looking at doing the first three rounds of competition for the women. Big day for us and we should have pretty good conditions at six-to-eight foot.”

The competition will determine the 2019 World Title and 2020 requalification to the elite CT.

Carissa Moore (HAW), Lakey Peterson (USA), and Caroline Marks (USA) are the only three women in contention for the 2019 World Title.

Potential World Title scenarios:

  • If Carissa Moore wins Maui, she clinches the World Title;
  • If Moore gets a 2nd, Lakey Peterson needs a 1st to take the World Title from Moore;
  • If Moore gets a 3rd, Peterson needs a 2nd & Caroline Marks a 1st;
  • If Moore gets a 5th/9th/17th, Peterson needs 3rd & Marks a 2nd to force a 3-way Tie Surf Off for World Title decision on Maui

On the requalification side, Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) needs to find success on Maui with her 2020 CT spot on the line. Van Dijk will be up first tomorrow against Marks and 2019 CT rookie Macy Callaghan (AUS) in Round 1.

Silvana Lima (BRA), Coco Ho (HAW), and Paige Hareb (NZL) are all on the cut-line and need to make it to Finals Day to give themselves a shot at requalification, pending results from Brisa Hennessy (CRI), Van Dijk, and those who have already qualified on the QS who could qualify via the CT.

The event will be broadcast LIVE on WorldSurfLeague.com and the free WSL app starting at 7 a.m. HST.
