Five Maui Museums to Present Women’s History Month Exhibitions
This March, five Maui museums from across the island will commemorate the vital role of women in local history in the first of four, quarterly collaborative exhibitions under the banner -“Celebrate Maui Museums”.
Lacking a large centralized institution, Maui has several small, unique museums. Through Celebrate Maui Museums, the public is invited to experience local stories and exhibits at Hale Hoʻikeʻike at Bailey House Museum in Wailuku, the Wo Hing Museum and the Baldwin Home Museum in Lahaina, the Makawao History Museum upcountry and the Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum in Puʻunēnē.
All exhibits are included in the regular admission fees for each museum. Exhibition descriptions, hours and days of operation vary between museums and can be found on the CelebrateMauiMuseums Facebook page.
The Celebrate Maui Museums exhibitions will continue in May for National Preservation Month, August for Book Lover’s Day, and October for National Archives Month.
Celebrate Maui Museums is partially funded by a grant from the County of Maui Office of Economic Development.
