COVID-19 Testing Underway in West Maui
COVID-19 Testing is now underway at the Lahaina Drive Through site along the Honoapiʻilani Highway in West Maui near Launiupoko Beach Park.
Much of the testing taking place across the county to date, including today’s drive through site is coordinated by Dr. Scott Miscovich and his team with Premier Medical Group. Help today is provided by a volunteer team with Doctors On Call Maui.
Personal Protective Equipment and other supplies for today’s effort were donated by the Maui Marriott Vacation Club.
The first hour of testing between 9 and 10 a.m. was dedicated to first responders and healthcare workers near Launiupoko Beach Park. Testing for the general public runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We want to mahalo Dr. Miscovich and his team again, for providing these test kits for the West Maui community,” Mayor Michael Victorino said. “Providing testing in West Maui to first responders, healthcare workers and the general public is hugely valuable in our fight against COVID-19.”
Testing is provided at no-cost through a partnership with Dr. Miscovich and the County of Maui.
General public access to the testing site is on the Honoapiʻilani Highway eastbound fronting Launiupoko Beach Park. The portion of the highway between Kai Hele Kū St. and the bypass connection will be closed to traffic in both directions.
Traffic impacts are expected between Puamana Beach Park and Launiupoko Beach Park. Motorists not seeking testing should avoid the area and use the Lahaina Bypass.
Entrance to the testing site for the general public will not be allowed from Kai Hele Kū Street.
Vehicles will enter the testing site, drive through testing stations, and exit on Honoapiʻilani Highway or the Lahaina Bypass via Kai Hele Kū Street.
Individuals will be screened on-site. First responders and healthcare workers should present their work IDs for screening.
