Gov. David Ige 8th Supplemental Proclamation: Extends 14-Day Travel Quarantine, Unveils State’s Roadmap to Recovery

Governor David Ige provided information on next steps for the state’s emergency orders as more businesses are added to the list under future phases and the 14-day travel quarantine for mainland and interisland travel is extended to the end fo June.  Gov. Ige has also extended the eviction moratorium under his 8th supplemental emergency proclamation.

The Governor unveiled his “Roadmap to Recovery and Resilience” which includes: Phase 1, stabilization; Phase 2, Kamaʻāina economy reopening; Phase 3, renew and rebuild for long-term recovery; and Phase 4, creating a stronger Hawaiʻi with resilience in mind. He said the state is ready to move from stabilization to the reopening phase.

Hawaʻi has completed the stay-at-home level and is currently under safer-at-home orders where “moderate disruptions” are being felt.  The next levels include: “Act With Care” where there are minor disruptions; “Recovery” where minimal disruptions are happening; and finally the “New Normal” where little to no disruptions are being felt.

Impact levels are informed by health, economic and community-based indicators.  State officials say impact levels may vary by County.

For the third time this month, there have been no new reported cases of coronavirus in Hawaiʻi. As of noon on Monday, May 18, 2020, there are 640 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaiʻi with no new cases in the state.  This is the fourth time since the outbreak was tracked at the end of February that the new case tally has been zero.
