Maui Hospital to Re-Start First Dose Vaccinations This Week

Maui Memorial Medical Center will begin vaccinating some of its first dose priority individuals this week, following the completion of a majority of second dose vaccinations.

Over the past three weeks, the hospital turned its focus on second dose vaccinations of individuals that received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine through the Maui Health vaccine clinic.

The first dose vaccinations being offered are for Phase 1B eligible residents that had their Maui Health January appointment canceled because of the vaccine shortage.

“We have contacted them directly to reschedule their first dose appointment, which is done through a special Maui Health appointment system just for this group,” said Tracy Dallarda a spokesperson for Maui Health and Maui Memorial Medical Center.

“We are starting with only a few hundred this week and hope to open-up to more next week,” said Dallarda. “Details will be available later this week and we ask those in our first dose priority group to please watch for an email for further instructions.”

Community members that are waiting to register and make appointments within the Phase 1B group, as defined by CDC, are asked to visit the Maui Heatlth website at www.mauihealth.org/covidvaccine for more up to date information.

“We continue to advocate for more vaccines for Maui and as soon as we have ample supply, we will let our community know. We are grateful for all the support, patience, and eagerness to be vaccinated,” said Dallarda.
