September edition of the free monthly Hawaiian Music Series features Cody Pueo Pata
The Lahaina Restoration Foundation welcomes renowned Hawaiian musician, Cody Pueo Pata as its featured artist for the September edition of the free Hawaiian Music Series. The event takes place at the Lahaina Civic Center Amphitheater on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Pata is a celebrated musician, composer, and cultural educator, known for his soulful vocals and authentic Hawaiian melodies. His exceptional falsetto and deep connection to Hawaiian culture, has lent to recognition with numerous awards. In 2008, Pata won a Nā Hōkū Hanohano award in the Haku Mele category for his original composition, “Miliʻōpua.”
Pata is the Kumu Hula of Hālau Hula ʻo Ka Malama Mahilani, based in Kahului, Maui. His hālau preserves the various traditions passed on to him through all of his Hula master teachers including Keʻala Kūkona, Jay Jay Akiona and Hilda Keanaʻāina. He shares his knowledge and passion for Hawaiian dance, music, and language.
His music has been featured on numerous albums and soundtracks, and his performances continue to delight audiences around the world and educate others on the Hawaiian culture.
Pata’s vocal stylings and contributions have also been featured on movie soundtracks, compilations, and about 18 other recording projects.
Guest are encouraged to bring your own blankets, mats, and low-back beach chairs to enjoy the music at the outside amphitheater in Lahaina.
