Maui Country Club celebrates 100 years of community and aloha at centennial event

Maui Country Club marked a historic milestone on Sunday, June 8, 2025, as members and guests celebrated the Club’s 100th anniversary. The celebration was held on the Club’s oceanfront grounds in Spreckelsville, the site of a century-long story of tradition, transformation and community.

Founded on June 8, 1925, on what was once sugar plantation land known as Camp One, Maui Country Club was the vision of Territorial Senator Harold W. Rice, sugar pioneer Frank Fowler Baldwin, and a small group of golf enthusiasts who sought to create a gathering place for fellowship and recreation.
The centennial commemoration included a dedication ceremony led by current Club President Eric Edwards and Vice President Kaia Udell. The event honored the Rice and Baldwin ʻohana, descendants of the founding families, along with others whose presence offered a connection from the Club’s earliest days to its promising future.
As part of the ceremony, the Club buried a time capsule to be opened in 2075, offering a heartfelt gift to future generations filled with keepsakes, photos, and reflections from this landmark year.

In a moment of special significance, attendees also witnessed the unveiling of a centennial clock, a unique and symbolic gift that will serve as a lasting tribute to the Club’s 100-year journey.
“This event is more than a celebration; it’s a reflection on where we came from, an appreciation for where we are, and an expression of hope for where we’re going,” said Kevin Peterson, General Manager of Maui Country Club. “Maui Country Club is not just a place. It’s a legacy built on community and aloha.”

Following the formal ceremony, guests enjoyed a “Talk Story” Centennial Buffet, featuring nostalgic dishes from years past, live Hawaiian music by member Jarret Roback, and an open mic for members to share their favorite club memories.
“What began with 88 charter members has blossomed into a vibrant, multi-generational community where aloha remains the cornerstone of club life,” according to the announcement.
Now recognized as the longest-running golf club on Maui, Maui Country Club has evolved into a hub of activity, offering golf, tennis, pickleball, fitness, keiki programs, and a thriving restaurant on the property.
