Maui police seek public’s help in locating missing Mississippi woman

The Maui Police Department requests the public’s assistance with any information on the whereabouts of Makela Eubanks, 22, of Mississippi.

Eubanks was reported missing by a concerned family member on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. She arrived alone on Maui on a one-way ticket from Mississippi on Monday, July 20, 2026. The last known contact with her was on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, via her cell phone, when she communicated with acquaintances.  It is believed she still has her cell phone, which has been turned off since the evening of Aug. 18, 2026.  

The last documented police contact with Eubanks occurred on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026. She does not have a vehicle but has been seen in the Wailuku, Kahului and Hāna areas.

Eubanks is described as being African American/Caucasian, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing about 220 pounds.  She has brown hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what she was last wearing.
