The High Surf ADVISORY for Maui’s north shore, issued by the National Weather Service in Honolulu on Thursday, February 9, has been extended and will stay in effect until 6 p.m. on Friday, February 10.

A High Surf Advisory means that beach-goers are urged to stay out of the water and away from the shore to avoid being compromised by  rip currents and large waves breaking close to shore.

Today, surf heights on Maui’s north shore are expected to reach 15 feet and slowly diminish along with the recent northwest swell.
