A power outage at the Interisland Terminal of Honolulu International Airport is affecting neighbor island flights this morning.

As of 6:30 a.m., nine flights were delayed and two flights had taken off, according to DOT Communications Chief Dan Meisenzahl.

Transportation officials say the outage was affecting the jetway doors, which had to be manually opened, but resumption of service is currently underway.

At 7:20 a.m., a significant portion of the terminal was back online, and the computer system at Hawaiian Airlines was online as well.

The outage occurred this morning after crews conducted a monthly test of emergency generators at the airport.  When bringing the power back online, Meisenzal said, not all of the power was restored, with outages affecting the Interisland Terminal.

“Hopefully operations will be back to normal sooner rather than later,” said Meisenzal, who said travelers can expect a ripple effect resulting in slight delays throughout the morning.

Travelers are asked to contact airlines to confirm flight arrival and departure times.
