Goodwill “Gathering the Good” for Community Fair

Goodwill Industries of Hawaii is hosting their first annual Community Resource Fair “Gathering the Good of Maui” at the War Memorial Overflow Field from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16.

Goodwill Industries of Hawaii has been helping people with employment barriers reach their full potential and become self-sufficient since 1959. Supported by its retail operations and financial endeavors, its educational, employment and training programs have provided skills training, employment counseling, job placement and support services since 1959.

Employment plays a critical role in the strength of the community and lies at the heart of Goodwill’s philosophy.  For this reason, Goodwill is including a Jobs Section at the event, sharing their job readiness and job placement support programs with the attendees.

This event will be a collaboration of community resources, non-profit agencies, private employers, food booths, door prizes and entertainment. Included in the agencies and businesses participating are more than 50 Maui organizations that have come together to take part.

“We’re honored to be able to bring the community together to raise the public’s awareness of our non-profit mission, to help people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient, and also to highlight the resources that other agencies provide to support Maui residents,” President/CEO, said Laura Robertson Smith, the president and chief executive officer of Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, in a written statement.

This Community Resource Fair will help the community by creating an environment where program participants and community members are encouraged to learn about available resources to help individuals and families become self-sufficient and thrive.

It will also provide an opportunity for community partners to share expertise and to enhance opportunities for collaboration.
