Request Music leads the fun at the next Wailku First Friday event when it rolls out the carpet for a two-on-two Uptown Getdown Break Dance Competition on August 3.

There are no entry fees to compete in this annual break dancing competition that takes place right in front of the Request Music store on the corner of Market and Main.

Wailuku First Friday is a free community street party, held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with Market Street closed to vehicular traffic from 5:30 p.m.

Also performing at Wailuku First Friday at the Wailuku Banyan Tree Park is Derick Sebastian with his band.

“Derick plays and sings with fire. His amazing facility and sheer virtuosity are only surpassed by his boundless heart and soul. He in incredibly entertaining to watch and listen to,” said Tommy Hopkins, a local producer, composer, guitarist, in a written statement. Sebastian will be performing from 7:15 p.m.

Opening at the Banyan Tree Park, from 6 p.m., is a young up and coming band, The Performers. “This five-piece band plays from diverse genres.  They are a must-see as they are on their rise,” said group leader, Jonathan Cua.

More live music continues up and down town with “Visibly Shaken” at Giannotto’s Pizza on Main Street, Gene Argel and ohana performs at Cafe ‘O Lei on Market Street and favorite Joel Katz at 33 N. Market Street.  Live music will also be featured at Main Street Bistro (2051 Main St).

Other Wailuku First Friday highlights include:

• Kraig Vickers, Honor Run, 5K and 3K, packet pick ups at the lobby of the Iao Theater
• Beer Garden by  Kumu A’o, Inc., benefiting native Hawaiian Healing and cultural practices.
