9th Annual E Hooulu Aloha Benefit for Maui Historical Society
The Maui Historical Society hosts a 9th annual fundraiser, “E Ho’oulu Aloha – To Grow in Love” on Saturday, November 28, 2009. The concert includes will known local entertainers who will be performing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Bailey House Museum and the historic Yokouchi residence in Wailuku.
Uluwehi Guerrero, Richard Ho’opi’i, and Lei’ohu Ryder will be the featured entertainment. Their volunteer performances are their way of “giving back” to the Bailey House Museum. The all day event also includes performances by Halau Hula Kauluokala and Na Leo Lani O Maui, a community choir directed by Gale Wisehart.
Hawaiian arts and crafts, pre-holiday shopping at the museum gift shop, free museum admission and a silent auction are all part of the celebration of Hawaiian culture. Hawaiian plate lunches will available. There will also be fresh flower lei for sale, and mater lauhala weavers will be practicing their craft.
The concert will be emceed by Uncle Poki from Pacific Radio Group’s KPOA 93.5 FM. Attendees are invited to bring their blankets or a low backed beach chair and enjoy the day listening to music, watching hula, and going back in time to Old Hawaii.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event, which includes admission to the Bailey House Museum on the day of the concert. Children under 12 are admitted free with a paid adult. Tickets are available at the Bailey House Museum at 2375-A Main Street, in Wailuku, or by calling 244-3326. Will Call is also available for advance purchases.
