Hawaiian Telcom Worker Injured by Fallen Tree

A Hawaiian Telcom worker was injures on Friday afternoon when a large eucalyptus tree fell across Meha Road and landed on the mid-section of a company boom.
Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said the worker was in a hydraulic lift bucket and was repairing phone lines when the incident occurred at 1:39 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013. The lines wree damaged earlier in the morning as the result of another fallen tree.
When crews from Engine-5 arrived on schene, they found a 34-year old male with a lower right leg injury and some abrasions to his right arm, said Mainaga.
According to Mainaga, the man was thrown out of the bucket during the incident and fell approximately 20-feet down to the ground.
The patient was packaged and transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
