A Maui man was airlifted from Kaihalulu Bay in Hāna on Saturday after falling about 15 feet from a rock outcropping, officials said.

The 32-year-old man suffered a broken lower right leg and sustained serious head injuries in the fall, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

The incident was reported at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, in the area often referred to as “Red Sand Beach.”
