Maui Coronavirus Updates

There were 499 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Tuesday. Statewide, there are 443 people hospitalized with COVID-19.

There were 756 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Monday, including 85 on Maui.

Hawai‘i’s COVID-19 deaths increased to 624, with 10 new deaths reported today, including three deaths each on Maui and O’ahu, and one death each on Kaua’i and Hawai’i Island. One of the Maui deaths involved a man in his 20s with underlying conditions.

There were 888 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Saturday, including 141 on Maui, four on Molokaʻi, and one on Lānaʻi.

“Our choices today and over this weekend can help prevent the worst-case scenario for our healthcare system,” said Gov. Ige.

The Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency has taken steps to secure a consistent supply of liquid oxygen (O2) from the mainland to the state of Hawaiʻi in order to meet the increased demands brought upon by the recent COVID-19 case count surge.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino said a modified health pass will be implemented at Maui County restaurants beginning on Sept. 15, that is similar to, but less restrictive than the Safe Access O‘ahu program that begins in just 10 days.

There were 865 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 137 on Maui. There were also seven deaths, including one on Maui.

There were *1,068 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Thursday, including 128 on Maui.

There were 455 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Wednesday, including 51 on Maui, 3 on Moloka‘i and 1 on Lāna‘i. There were also 13 COVID-19 deaths reported today.\

Maui County had 467 new cases from Monday through Friday of last week alone.  Maui Health administrators say research has shown that about 10% of positive cases will likely need hospitalization within 10-14 days of virus onset.  That could translate to 46 additional hospitalizations within the next two weeks. 

There were 553 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Tuesday. Statewide, there are 432 people hospitalized with COVID-19 today.

An uptick in COVID-19 cases and the number of quarantined households created an urgent need for personal protection items and household items for East Maui residents who face limited availability of goods in the remote East Maui community.  

The Safe Access O‘ahu program requires restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, museums, arcades and other similar establishments, to ensure their employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to operate. Customers will also have to provide proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to enter the business.

There were 720 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 73 on Maui. This is the 10th consecutive Monday that case counts have increased.

*Note: Kaiser Permanente is postponing elective procedures and surgeries on Maui. This is specifically for Kaiser and does not impact the Maui Memorial Medical Center or Maui Health.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reports the state has surpassed 10,000 new COVID-19 cases in the past 14-days and a record high one-day case count today. 10,817 cases were documented in the last 14 days, including 1,678 today.

A group of about 40 people showed up for a sign waving demonstration in support of Dr. Lorrin Pang, Maui’s District Heath Officer. The two hour event was staged along Kaʻahumanu Avenue in Kahului on Saturday, fronting the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College where Dr. Pang had orchestrated the island’s first mass vaccination clinics of the COVID-19 pandemic on island.

There were 938 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Saturday, including 87 on Maui. There were five COVID deaths today including the first for the island of Moloka‘i.

Hawaiʻi had 9,790 cases over the past two weeks, which accounts for more than 16% of the total confirmed cases for the state of Hawaiʻi’s since March of 2020. Maui’s reported new cases reported over the last 14 days is 1,124.
