Crime Statistics

There were a total of 13 vehicle thefts and 14 vehicle break-ins on Maui in the second week of October. The highest concentration was in Kihei where four thefts and three break-ins were reported over six days.

The incidents included five cases in Kahului, and two each in Kihei and Waiehu. Cases also occurred in Kaunakakai, Kula, Maalaea, Makawao, and Wailuku.

Three cars were broken-into at around 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3 at the Lahaina Wastewater Treatment plant; and another four vehicle break-ins reported just before 8 a.m. the following day on Limahana Place in Lahaina.

The incidents, reported between October 2 and 8, 2011, included five cases in Kahului, four in Kihei, and three in Wailuku. Cases also occurred in Kapalua, Lahaina and Napili.

A silver 2005 Yamaha MC with purple striping on the gas tang was reported stolen. The vehicle was last seen at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, on Iliau Way in Wailuku. The license plate number is 131MVK. (Report # 11047749)

A white and blue striped moped was reported stolen on Maui. The vehicle had a surf rack on the right rear bumper. Authorities say the vehicle has an unknown make, model or year. (Report # 1104772)

A white 2006 Chevy flatbed pickup truck with bumble bee stickers on both doors, was reported stolen. The vehicle also had the words, “Don’s Custom Painting” on both sides of the flatbed. The vehicle was last seen fronting a residence on Wainee Street in Lahaina at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. The license plate number is MPZ458. (Report # PC11047687)

A 2007 silver Dodge van was reported stolen. The vehicle was last seen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Kahului Airport. The license plate number is KZH998. (Report # 11047582)

A yellow 1987 Toyota Camry four-door sedan was reported stolen. The vehicle was last seen at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Ma’alaea Banyans Condominium. The license plate number is VV2034. (Report # 11047544)

A blue 2000 Honda multi-purpose vehicle was reported stolen on Maui. The vehicle was last seen at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Maui Marketplace in Kahului. The vehicle license plate number is MGG356. (Report # PC11046277)

A white 1997 Acura Integra two-door sedan was reported stolen on Maui. The vehicle has a broken right front blinker and a broken spoiler on the trunk.
