With the Hyundai Tournament of Champions less than three months away, the tournament has announced that volunteer opportunities are still available for the 2016 event.

The US Women’s National Team will play in Hawaiʻi on Dec. 6, 2015. As a part of the Victory Tour, the team will play Trinidad and Tobago at Aloha Stadium.

The Baldwin High School football team won its third straight game Friday, routing Kamehameha Maui 42-19 at Kanaiaupuni Stadium.

It was a game all of Upcountry Maui could be proud of. In the end, however, Kamehameha Schools Maui earned bragging rights to the unofficial Upcountry title over cross-town rival King Kekaulike, rallying behind a pair of touchdown passes late in the game to squeeze out a 20-12 victory.

The 2015 Adidas Hoops Clinics will be held on Maui on Oct. 22 and in Honolulu on Oct. 25, 2015.

Maui’s Reid Hunter of Lahaina finished the 45th Annual Maui Marathon at least 15 minutes ahead of his nearest competition, winning the race in a time of 2 hours 44 minutes and 57 seconds. The repeat champ improved over last year when he also placed first.

In front a nation of pink, and fused by the spirit of homecoming, the Kamehameha Schools Maui girls volleyball team answered its own challenge Friday, loosening the Division I strangle-hold held by cross-town rival King Kekaulike last year.

Pearl City Hongwanji Judo Club came out on top at the 56th Honpa Hongwanji State Judo Championships, winning nine team event titles out of 13 divisions.

Team Primo of Wailea Canoe Club took the title of 2015 Overall Race Champion, which included a perpetual trophy and a $1000 cash award.

The rebuilding Lunas gave their homecoming fans a reason to celebrate, finding the end zone five times en route to a 37-7 triumph over King Kekaulike, after leading by only a field goal through the first quarter of play.

In the end, it was about defense, and Maui High School’s defense proved to be a field goal better than Baldwin’s when it counted. The Sabers’ stout defense shutout Baldwin’s explosive passing game Friday night, before an estimated crowd of 4,300 at War Memorial Stadium, securing the Maui Interscholastic League Division I first-round championship with a nail-biting 3-0 victory.
