The 17th Annual Paia Bay Beachfest is set for Saturday, Jan. 18, featuring some of Maui’s top bodyboarders and amateur surfers.

Wave activity will continue to decline this evening although a combination of north to northwest swells is projected to build through Tuesday, Jan. 7, peaking to potentially double overhead sets at the best exposures.

As we welcome the New Year, the continuous swell activity that we’ve been blessed with over the holidays is expected to die down a little but should still offer plenty of surf at the overhead levels at select breaks along the north shore.

Another high-surf advisory remains in effect from 6 a.m. this morning to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25. Surf will rise today, remain elevated tonight into Christmas and projected to peak Thursday, with wave heights on the north shore between 15 to 20 feet.

Wave activity was expected to pick up late last night and build into Friday, Dec. 20, as another advisory-level winter swell arrives to the shores of Maui. The National Weather Service has issued a high-surf warning for the north facing shores of Maui through 6 p.m. tonight.

As another action-packed weekend of heavy surf slowly fades across all facing shores, we drift into a new week. Fortunately, another high-surf advisory system is anticipated for the end of the week.

As the weekend approaches, another north-northwest swell is anticipated to provide the winter shores with more reinforcements in hopes of keeping the active surf well overhead.

A series of reinforcement swells are expected from the west, with the possibility of overhead surf by the middle of the week. This follows a weekend of surfing that lived up to expectations.

Winter shores will soon begin to feel the ocean mist due to heavy-wave activity as the weekend gets underway with rising north swells that could offer double-overhead sets.

Opening ceremonies get underway at 10 a.m. today for the Cabrinha Kite Surf Pro event at Hoʻokipa Beach Park on Maui’s North Shore.

Whatever you decide to do – surf or watch Jaws – Wednesday, Nov. 13 should be an action-packed day of surf, weather permitting.

Warning level surf of 20 to 30 feet is expected to peak on Wednesday along the north facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi. The conditions on the water are the result of a combination of a powerful low-pressure system north of the state, and a strong high-pressure system far to the northwest, according to the NWS.

A “large short-period north-northeast swell” will produce surf in the 12 to 15 foot range on the north shores, and 8 to 12 foot range along east facing shores, before subsiding later today, officials said.

The remainder of the week will see a return of the glorious trade winds to cool down the land and simultaneously make some windy conditions for surfers.

A high surf advisory is in effect for the north facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi, with surf expected to be in the 12 to 16 foot range. The advisory conditions remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013.

The main hub of the north shore, Ho’okipa Beach Park, will be closing out come Saturday night while the pros and kamikazes have their day charging the huge waves.

The swell is expected to rise to the 2 to 5-foot range on Saturday and 3 to 7-foot on Sunday. Might want to request time off work now.

Hawaii surfer Carissa Moore won the 2013 ASP Women’s World Tour Championship today at the season-ending event, EDP Cascais Girls Pro, in Portugal.

It sure looks like winter is getting closer and closer as the wind and water starts to cool down with all of the north swells bringing in cold open ocean water temperatures from the north Pacific.

There is a small 2 to 5-foot NW-N swell on the rise Tuesday Oct. 1, which should provide some good surf by the afternoon assuming the wind calms down by then as it usually does.
