Maui Launches Program to Replace 26,000 Small-Meters Over Four Years
The project is expected to last four years and replace an estimated 26,000 meters that are 2 inches or less in size. The first year of the project is scheduled to begin this month in Waikapū and continue throughout Wailuku, Waiheʻe and Pāʻia.

Update: Mariners Aboard Overdue Sailing Vessel Rescued 74 Miles off O‘ahu
Officials say the vessel’s GPS malfunctioned while in transit and was blown off course overnight. The next morning, the crew could not see land; and while they had a working compass and a northern heading, conditions continued to push them south.
Maui Bars, Paddling, Some Outdoor Sports Set to Reopen on Monday, June 15
The Governor has granted the County of Maui’s request to reopen more businesses and activities on Monday, June 15, 2020. This includes bars which will be allowed to operate with modifications. *Note: football and rugby practices will not be allowed to start at this time. There will also be NO close contact activities, including but not limited to: huddles, high fives and handshakes.

Three people were arrested in Waikīkī for violating Hawaiʻi’s 14-day quarantine for individuals arriving from out-of-state.
6 New COVID-19 Cases on O‘ahu: Hawai‘i Total Now 682
There are six new COVID-19 case reported on Oʻahu today, pushing the statewide count to 682 cases in Hawaiʻi over the course of the pandemic. This comes in addition to a surge in cases over the weekend on Oʻahu. To date, 621 people (93.3%) have recovered including 113 in Maui County. There are currently 44 active cases in the state. Maui has a single case in home isolation.

Human Remains Found at Daybell Home in Idaho, Chad Daybell in Police Custody
In the brief address, police had indicated that the investigation involves the missing children’s case of Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow. Ryan and Vallow are the children of Daybell’s new wife, Lori Vallow Daybell who was arrested on Kauaʻi in February and charged with two felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children when she failed to follow court orders to produce the children.
Hawaiian Airlines Announces Kama‘āina Member Exclusive Sale
Hawaiian will offer up to six daily roundtrip flights between Honolulu and Līhu‘e, Kona and Hilo, and up to nine daily roundtrips between Honolulu and Kahului. The carrier’s ‘Ohana by Hawaiian operation will continue to offer twice daily service between Honolulu and Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i.
Maui Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
The MEO (LIHEAP) provides energy credits for heating and/or cooling assistance to low-income households (150% of the federal poverty level, e.g. $45,195 for a family of four) throughout Maui County. This is a a one-time payment to offset utility bill (electric or gas) expenses in one of two ways.

The vessel was being moved from Ala Wai Harbor, Oahu, to Lahaina, Maui, to be sold. The pair departed Oahu Saturday morning. The ship was expected in Maui no later than Monday.
Maui Hospital Begins Universal Testing, Single Person on Maui with COVID-19 in Home Quarantine
As of yesterday, there are no COVID-19 cases at the Maui Memorial Medical Center, and there is currently only one person in home quarantine with the virus, according to new information provided today by Maui Mayor Michael Victorino. Also, starting today, the Maui Memorial Medical Center begins universal testing for COVID-19 on all patients admitted through the Emergency Department and Obstetrics patients.

Passive beach use is now allowed at all State Parks beaches, although some gates will remain locked for resource management, people’s safety and due to fiscal constraints. COVID-19 rules and social distancing guidelines remain applicable, following each county’s emergency orders.
