Paddle For Hunger Raises Record-Breaking $8,000 For Maui Food Bank

On Thanksgiving Day, more than 300 participants, including an impressive 264 paddlers on the water, came together for the 16th annual Paddle for Hunger to benefit Maui Food Bank.

West Maui motorists are being advised that a brushfire on the mauka side of Honoapiilani Highway in Ukumehame may force the closure of the highway if the blaze is not contained within the next hour. Fire personnel say winds of up to 20 to 30 miles per hour are fanning fire, which was said to be near Ehehene Street.

2nd Hāna Highway Landslide: Now Passable at Mile 14.5

The Hāna Hwy (360) is now passable in the area of mile marker 14.5 following a landslide reported across the road at the location on Monday night. This was the second major landslide along the road to Hāna with the first forcing the closure of the road for about 4 hours when rocks, mud and debris came down near mile 8.5 earlier in the day. The road is still wet and motorists are asked to proceed with caution if they chose to travel in the area.
