Maui Crime, Nov. 8–14: Burglaries, Break-Ins, Thefts

The total number of burglaries, vehicle break-ins/thefts and vehicle thefts reported this week was 66; three less than reported during the previous week.

Old Haleakalā Highway, S-Bound Closure for Pedestrian Safety

Starting Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, Old Haleakalā Highway will be closed in the south bound direction from Makawao Avenue to Kula Highway due to pedestrian safety concerns, according to an announcement by BCP Construction.

UPDATE: Thousands Lose Power in Nāhiku, Waiehu, Makawao

Arson Suspect Sought, Accused of Setting Fire to Stolen Vehicle

UPDATE: Testimony on Olowalu Town Project Final EIS Continues

As of noon on Wednesday, Nov. 18, the state Land Use Committee heard from 31 of the 84 Maui residents who signed up to testify at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s McCoy Studio Theater regarding acceptance of the Olowalu Town LLC and Olowalu Ekolu LLC’s Final Environmental Impact Statement, a 3,000-page document made available to the public 18 days ago.
