$8.7 M Secured for Native Hawaiian Affordable Housing
The Hawaiʻi congressional delegation announced today that the Hawaiʻi State Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has been awarded a Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant totaling $8.7 million to build affordable homes, make renovations, and provide housing support for Native Hawaiian families.
Woman Arrested Again on Mauna Kea
For the second day in a row, a Pāhoa woman was arrested on the Mauna Kea access Road. It was reported that the woman had been disruptive to peaceful protesters and that she had briefly removed her clothing. The incident comes following another encounter with police on early Sunday in which she is accused of allegedly using her car to ram the vehicle of an Office of Mauna Kea Management ranger.
Beach Cleanup at Kanahā, July 18
Volunteers from Malama Maui Nui, Surfrider Foundation Maui Chapter, and the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Hawaiʻi will be heading to Kanahā Beach Park to pick up litter to help preserve the beach park and surrounding area.

An 11-year-old boy from El Paso Texas was airlifted from the Kīpahulu campgrounds in East Maui after sustaining third degree burns caused by a pot of boiling water that accidentally fell on him.

After performing remedial work and grading, the University of Hawaiʻi issued an announcement today saying the Mauna Kea Summit Access Road was reopened at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 13.

Work Begins on Māʻalaea Small Boat Harbor Ferry Pier
A $2.8 million project to remove and replace a badly deteriorated pier adjacent to the Māʻalaea Small Boat Harbor new ferry terminal building began on Tuesday.
