There is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi after a preliminary magnitude 6.6 #earthquake reported at 9:50 a.m. HST on Thursday, July 3, 2014, in the #Kermadec Islands Region, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. The USGS reports that the quake was located at a depth of 20.5 miles and was located: 145 miles ESE of Raoul Island, #NewZealand; 632 miles S of Nuku`alofa, Tonga; 670 miles NE of Whakatane, New Zealand; 675 miles NNE of Gisborne, New Zealand; and 684 miles ENE of Whangarei, New Zealand. Maui July 4th Fireworks Display and Guidelines
The display is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, July 4, from a barge offshore of Front Street in Lahaina. Fire officials remind the public that fireworks can only be set off legally between 1 and 9 p.m. on the Fourth of July.

The last day to register to vote in the primary election is Thursday, July 10, 2014. During the 2012 primary election, there were a total of 84,042 individuals registered to vote in Maui County. Of that number, only 30.6% or 25,702 individuals actually voted.
