Lava Enters Ocean from Puʻu ʻŌʻō
A lava flow from the Kīlauea Volcano’s Puʻu ʻŌʻō vent entered the ocean at around 1 p.m. on Saturday. The activity came a day after a small earthquake, measuring 4.3 occurred at the Lōʻihi Seamount.
Visitor Rescued From Steep Trail in Kahakuloa
Rescue crews were dispatched to the Olivine Pools in Kahakuloa on Sunday to assist a 55-year-old woman who suffered from a possible broken or sprained ankle.
Small Waiehu Brush Fire, Cause Undetermined
A small brush fire in Waiehu burned an estimated 50 by 75 foot area before being brought under control on Saturday afternoon, November 24, 2012. The incident was reported at 2:45 p.m. in an area of brush between the Waiehu Golf Course and the Waiehu Kou subdivision.
Man Stuck in Kipahulu Pool, Rescue Averted
A man who was reportedly stuck in a pool of water on the Pipiwai Trail in Kipahulu, managed to make his way out on his own, according to fire officials.
No Threat After 4.3 Earthquake at Loihi, Hawaii Island
There is no tsunami threat following a 4.3 magnitude earthquake at the Loihi Seamount, located south of the Big Island of Hawai’i. The measurement of the quake was first lowered to 3.9 from an initial preliminary 4.1 reading, and then raised following further evaluation to a 4.3.

Forecasters say radar at 3:44 p.m. showed a thunderstorm with heavy rain near Ulupalakua, or about 19 miles south of Kahului. The area of rain was moving South at about 5 miles per hour.
BRIEF: Hanakao’o Temporary Restroom Closure

Waihe’e Valley Mountain Rescue
When the man called 911 at around 5 a.m., he told authorities he had run out of water and was suffering from dehydration, fire officials said. The man related that he was hiking in the area over the last two days and could not complete his trek out of the area.

Maui Electric Company has confirmed a power outage in the following areas: Lahaina, Olowalu, and Launiupoko bounded by Mill St., Prison St., Front St., Shaw St., Aholo Rd., Puamana Subd., Honoapiilani Hwy., Puunoa Subd., Makila Ridge Subd., Olowalu, Kai Hele Ku St., Mahanlua Nui Subd., Launiupoko, Ukumehama Subd., and laterals. MECO is working to identify the cause and restore electrical service as quickly and safely as possible.
Tomoso Resigns as Director of Hui No Ke Ola Pono

Engine Problem Noted in 2009 Hana Helicopter Crash
The investigation found that the engine had inadvertently shut down on four other prior times prior to the December 16, 2009 incident. The helicopter operated by Sunshine Helicopters, Inc., out of Kahului, Maui, experienced a total loss of engine power and made a forced, uncontrolled landing about 1.3 miles southeast of the Hana Airport.

BRIEF: DMVL Satellite Offices Closed for Staff Training
