There was no tsunami threat following a 3.5 magnitude earthquake reported at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 on Hawai’i Island.
BRIEF: Missing Hiker Safe After ‘Iao Search
The search for a missing hiker in ‘Iao Valley ended Wednesday evening when the missing man made it out safely on his own. Authorities say the search was launched at 7:05 p.m. by crews from the Maui Fire Department’s Engine 1 from Wailuku and Rescue 10 from Kahului.
Unattended Oven Sparks Nahiku Home Fire
A Nahiku home was destroyed by fire overnight, when the homeowner left the oven on and unattended, officials said. The fire was first reported at 11:46 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
Visitor Falls 15 Feet From East Maui Trail
A 62-year-old male visitor was transported by Medivac to the hospital after falling about 15-feet off the trail above Kaihalulu Bay in East Maui, authorities said.
