Today Marks 17 Weeks Since Hawai‘i’s Mandatory 14-Day Quarantine Began

Here on Maui, there were 115 people who arrived on three trans-Pacific flights on Wednesday including: 35 visitors, 53 residents, six individuals planning to relocate to the islands, 2 passengers in transit to another location and 19 crew members.  

Two Travelers Detail Successful Mandatory Quarantine

Both Cari Pang Chen and Kevin Barnard are from California, and while it is not required yet, both individuals as well as Barnard’s brother, got COVID-19 tests before flying from the mainland to Hawai‘i.

Mayor Victorino Asks Governor to Lift Interisland Quarantine on June 15

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino sent a letter to the Governor David Ige today asking him to lift the 14-day restriction on interisland travelers starting June 15, 2020.

Verification Process Implemented for Airline Passengers

All information will also be provided to counties to check if the address is a vacation rental. State officials say, “This is a warning to all vacation rentals in the state to stop accepting visitor reservations. The government will have their address and they will be subject to enforcement for operating illegally. A list of suspected illegal short-term rental sites will be provided to the appropriate county.”

With Governor David Ige’s announcement yesterday for a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all travelers arriving in Hawaiʻi starting Thursday, Hawaiian Airlines announced a reduction in flight schedules to a ‘bare bones level,’ after Wednesday.
