27-year-old Kyle Brittain was last seen on the morning of Aug. 30 at the Waipiʻo Valley lookout.

In a seven minute video, missing-then-found hiker Amanda Eller issued a new statement today saying she wants to “clear up some misunderstandings.”

While the tales of missing hikers Noah “Kekai” Mina and Amanda Eller both ended very differently, their stories have drawn attention to a very important subject for anyone hiking the Maui landscape: What kind of precautions to take while hiking.

Amanda Eller was admitted overnight for continued observation and discharged Saturday evening, May 25.

“When the father of a missing girl asks you something like that, you don’t say ‘no.’ So I said, ‘Of course I’ll be there.'”

After 17 days missing, over two weeks searching, and thousands of volunteer hours logged, Amanda Eller is alive and doing well, according to family and friends.

Amanda Eller’s parents, John and Julie, and friends are offering up to $50,000, for information on the possible abduction of Amanda Eller.

John Eller, Amanda’s father, told Maui Now yesterday evening that the MPD got the forensics report back on Amanda’s phone.

Dr. Amanda Eller, a Maui physical therapist and yoga instructor, has been missing for two weeks as of Wednesday, May 22. 2019.

Team leader Chris Berquist described for Maui Now the Makawao Forest Reserve search for Amanda Eller on May 20 and outlined search plans for the coming days.

As the areas close to base camp fill in, searchers are moving further out. The rougher terrain compounds into a more demanding search.

Over 100 searchers, about 25 support staff, a dozen drivers, several drones, rappellers, divers, and one search-and-rescue canine team participated in Saturday’s search for Amanda Eller.

Additional scent dogs along with divers, drones and rappellers, have been utilized in the search for Amanda Eller.

The search for a missing woman on Maui–35-year-old Amanda Eller–continues.  After a week of searching, today, her family is making a plea.  

On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, a 911 call was received from an area above the Makawao Forest Reserve about possible additional information to this investigation.

New surveillance photos of what appears to be Eller’s vehicle parking outside of the Haʻikū Market have been released.
