County of Maui honors Outstanding Older American Male and Female of 2025

Bishop Pahia of Waiehu and Patricia Niibu of Lānaʻi City were honored as the 2025 Maui County Outstanding Older American Male and Female, respectively, the County of Maui Department of Human Concerns Office on Aging announced.

Maui’s Bishop Pahia retires; Served as a ‘lifeline’ for those released from jail/prison

Bishop Pahia has been a “lifeline” for more than a thousand inmates released from jail and prison during his 15 years with Maui Economic Opportunity’s Being Empowered and Safe Together (BEST) program, which helps these men and women rejoin the community. The former corrections officer at Maui Community Correctional Center is retiring from MEO.

MEO BEST program nets $4,550 at Construction Industry of Maui event

Maui Economic Opportunity’s program that assists individuals released from jail and prison by helping them to reintegrate into society, received $4,550 donations from the Construction Industry of Maui and three other attendees of the group’s scholarship banquet Wednesday.
