Eleven companies signed new two-year terms to participate in the Digital Currency Innovation Lab program in Hawaiʻi. The new terms end on Dec. 30, 2024.

Maui Humane Society is participating in an opportunity for cryptocurrency holders to double their donation to help Maui’s homeless animals.

“We’re looking for other cryptocurrency trailblazers to join us in showing the power of philanthropy in supporting youth in the arts. In the State of Hawaiʻi, less than 3% of all charitable giving supports arts organizations. We’re looking to crypto as a way to amp that number up”.

Hawaiian Electric warned its customers of scammers pretending to Hawaiian Electric employees and using scare tactics and trickery to get potential victims to pay “overdue” bills with prepaid debit cards.

The emails were traced back to servers outside the state of Hawaiʻi, which was consistent with other incidents that occurred elsewhere in the state today.

Scammers are demanding payments in the digital currency known as bitcoin with threats of discontinuing electric services for customers in Hawaiʻi.
