Maui Council committee advances $4M budget amendment for Hālau of ʻŌiwi Arts

A Maui County Council committee recommended first reading approval Tuesday of a $4 million bond funding request for the Hālau of ʻŌiwi Arts project in Wailuku, even as council members raised pointed questions about why items originally represented as part of the project had been dropped before construction began.

$40.4 M Released for Kona Airport Modernization

An estimated $40.4 million in CIP funds will go toward Phase 1 of the Modernization, and will include construction to provide terminal building improvements to increase capacity, efficiency, and security for passengers.

Maui County Gets $4.5 M in CIP Grant-in-aid

Maui nonprofit organizations secured $4.5 million in Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Grant-in-Aid funds.

Committee Agrees on $3.4 Billion CIP Budget

Highlights include: $9.3 million in FY21 for the Molokaʻi Irrigation System; $17 million in FY20 for a new classroom building at Pāʻia Elementary School

Maui Mayor Proposes FY 2020 Budget

Total county funds, including bonds for FY 2020, are estimated at $780.8 million, a $22.5 million increase, or 3%, more than the FY 2019 council-approved budget of $758.3 million.
