The County of Maui Environment Protection and Sustainability Division is offering free Christmas tree recycling drop off services until Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021.

For the first time in nearly a decade, the County of Maui will be offering free Christmas tree recycling. 

Curbside Christmas tree pickup service will be available for Pā‘ia, Haikū, Makawao, Pukalani and Kula on Saturday morning, Dec. 30, 2017, from 8 a.m. to noon.

The service is coordinated by the Upcounty Rotary, with a suggested $10 donation per tree going to support the organization’s community projects.

The Recycling Section of the County of Maui requests that all Christmas trees be taken to composting facilities. County officials advise that trees cannot be taken to community centers, recycling centers, or dumped in parking lots.

Event organizers for a West Maui tree-cycling event say the aim is to keep Christmas trees out of the landfill, and utilize the chips for weed suppression in Honokowai Valley.

The drop-off tree recycling sites are free unless otherwise noted. The list also includes curbside pickup options for residents that want to save a trip to a recycling facility.
