April 19, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 65 Cases (52 O‘ahu, 10 Maui, 2 Hawai‘i Island, 1 Out-of-State)

The state Department of Health reports that there were 65 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Monday, including 52 on O‘ahu, 10 on Maui, two on Hawai‘i Island, and one in a Hawai‘i resident diagnosed while out of state. There were a total of 1,180 cases logged over the past two weeks, 269 of them in Maui County.

21 COVID-19 Clusters Identified in Maui County

This includes: seven in the travel/lodging/tourism sector, six at educational settings, two at a food suppliers, two at restaurants, two in occupational settings, one cluster at a correctional facility, and one at a place of worship.

Maui Mayor Eyes Restrictions in Virus Cluster Areas: “We’re at a Crucial Point”

“We are looking at maybe reducing their hours even further if necessary,” said Mayor Victorino during a Friday afternoon press briefing. “But I’m trying to allow time for them to clean up–reestablishing and reevaluating how they’ve been serving the people of Maui County and the visitors alike.”

Harbor Lights COVID-19 Cluster Now at 97 Cases

The COVID-19 cluster at the Harbor Lights condominium complex in Kahului is now estimated at 97, with another 57 linked to those within the Pacific Islander community, according to an update provided by the County of Maui on Monday afternoon.

152 COVID-19 Tests Conducted at Keōpūolani Park

Tests were administered to 152 people via drive-through COVID-19 testing today, April 30, at Keōpūolani Regional Park.

Drive-through COVID-19 testing takes place Thursday, April 30, at Keōpūolani Park in Kahului. Testing will be open to hospital and healthcare workers, first responders and public transportation workers ONLY from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Testing for the general public will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Testing will be provided at no-cost by Premier Medical Group.

Maui Restaurant COVID-19 Grouping Involved 3-4 Positive Cases and Up to 100 Exposed Contacts

Officials with the Maui District Health Office clarified information shared yesterday about a group of positive COVID-19 cases involving a restaurant on Maui.  Dr. Lorrin Pang said he misspoke by calling the group a cluster and said the group included 3 or 4 confirmed cases and 100 exposed contacts. 

Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing in South Maui on Thursday, April 23

Drive-through testing for COVID-19 will take place in South Maui tomorrow, April 23, at the South Maui Community Park Gymnasium parking lot. To reduce wait times and on-site registration, individuals are asked to pre-register for testing at www.minitmed.com. Testing will be open to first responders and healthcare workers ONLY from 9 to 10 a.m. First responders and healthcare workers should present their work IDs for screening. Testing for the general public will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Testing will be provided at no out-of-pocket cost for individuals.

Drive-through testing for COVID-19 will take place again tomorrow, April 23, at Keōpūolani Regional Park. Testing will be open to first responders and healthcare workers ONLY from 9 to 10 a.m. Testing for the general public will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Testing will be provided at no-cost.

Drive-through COVID-19 testing will take place in Hāna on Friday, April 17, in the parking lot across from the tennis court at the Hāna Ball Park.

300+ in Line at Start of Kahului Drive Through Clinic on Maui

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino provided an update after visiting the Kahului Drive Through Testing site that opened at 8 a.m. this morning at Keopuolani Park.  During an interview with Shane Kahalehau of KPOA 93.5 FM, Mayor Victorino said that upon opening an estimated 300+ people were already in line.
