Feb. 5, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 101 New Cases (64 O‘ahu, 25 Maui, 3 Hawai‘i Island, 1 Lāna‘i, 8 Out-of-State)

There were 101 new COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Friday, including 64 on O‘ahu, 25 on Maui, three on Hawaiʻi Island, one on Lānaʻi and eight in Hawaiʻi residents diagnosed outside of the state.

Maui Jail Begins COVID-19 Testing Today on Staff

The testing is part of a mass effort to conduct testing at all correctional facilities statewide after a COVID-19 outbreak at the Oʻahu Community Correctional Center first reported in August. 

Maui Jail Population Drops By 71 Inmates Over One Month

The jail population across the state has experienced a marked decrease in inmates as the Department of Public Safety finds ways to temporarily reduce the number of people in jails and prisons amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
